What is Learning Support?

Learning Support is available to assist students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities who require additional support whilst studying in NA College.  Learning support can include:

  • Classroom-based support
  • Special exam arrangements (extra time, reader, scribe)
  • Assistive technology loan (laptops, recording and reading pens)

If you have support requirements and decide not to make a referral for learning support you will be unable to access any support (this includes exam support).

How can I apply for additional learning support?

Please complete the Learning Support Referral Form on the next page and return to the Learning Support Co-ordinator in your campus of study.  Once you have submitted this form, a member of the Learning Support team will be in contact with you to arrange a time for you to come in and meet to complete an initial needs assessment.

What information is needed for my initial needs assessment?

The Learning Support Officer will need a copy of evidence indicating your learning difficulty and/or disability for example:

  • Statement of Educational Needs/ Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Educational Psychologist report
  • Medical evidence e.g. an assessment or report from an Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Consultant, Mental Health Practitioner or Social Worker
