Brief outline of role:

To plan, deliver and develop functional skills curriculum (Maths and English) for learners on various programmes enabling the achievement of the recommended level and progressing to one level higher if required.

 

Key Responsibilities specific to role:

  • To keep updated about changes in policy and practice around Maths and English (e.g. the current development of Functional Skills) and disseminating this to relevant staff
  • To support Programme Manager’s and assessors to achieve business and performance targets
  • To plan, deliver and evaluate Maths and English as part of the Functional Skills element of the framework by:
    • Producing schemes of work and lesson plans
    • Identifying and developing resources
    • Supporting learners and recording progress
    • Evaluating course satisfaction returns
  • To deliver Functional Skills online, in the classroom and work base environments.
  • To organise (and where necessary, source) Functional Skills resources.
  • To contribute to ensuring that Functional Skills are offered through a range of delivery modes to meet the needs of learners (e.g. group-based, blended learning) and tests are available in paper-based (if required by the learner) and on-line versions.
  • To devise individual learning plans by taking into consideration various learning styles and individual learner needs.
  • To provide accurate and timely formative and summative assessment and feedback to learners, maintain assessment records, including tracking and reporting of learner attendance and progress.

Examination Officer

The Examination Officer plays a pivotal role in NA College in the administration, management and conducting of examinations.

Key Responsibilities specific to role:

  • Liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, Heads of Departments, teachers, reception staff, site staff, IT staff and awarding organisations
  • Being aware of examination changes each academic year
  • Co-ordinating invigilators. This includes training new invigilators and updating existing invigilators on rules and regulation changes on an annual basis as well as participating in invigilation.
  • Updating examination-related policies
  • Managing the examination entry process, including gathering information from teaching staff to ensure that students’ examination entries are made correctly and on time, making amendments/withdrawals etc.
  • Managing the examination preparation process. This includes preparing examination timetables for students and staff; creating seating plans for each examination room; briefing candidates, and staff; receiving, checking and securely storing confidential examination materials; administering internal assessment etc.
  • Supporting the process relating to access arrangements (for example; making applications, rooming, training invigilators, managing emergency access arrangements etc.)
  • Managing examination days in accordance with awarding body regulations, including preparing for each exam day, starting an examination, dealing with emergencies, irregularities and malpractice, ending the examination, collecting the examination scripts and packing and dispatching examination scripts

Manufacturing Tutor/Assessor

Key Responsibilities specific to role: 

  • Maintain a caseload of apprentices/ course provision and ensure that their training needs are met and assessed to meet the requirements of the appropriate funding body, awarding body and NA College.
  • Participate in the planning, development and implementation of the provision.
  • Ensure all learners are visited regularly as per agreed Individual Learning Plan and where necessary additional visits are carried out to support any additional needs.
  • Monitor learner’s progression ensuring they progress each month and ensure assessment for each element of their programme is completed enabling learners to meet achievement targets for all parts of their programme on time.

MIS Officer

Brief outline of role:

The key objectives of the role are to support and work with the MIS Manager and Team Leader to maintain and update computerised details of all participants on ESFA funded programmes to the highest standards of accuracy. To ensure that all computerised and paper-based information on learners/participants for ESFA programmes provides an audit trail. To ensure all learner files and records are fully compliant for external audit purposes. To provide data and information reports as required by Managers.

 

Key Responsibilities specific to role:

  • To create, input and maintain accurate student records using the PICS management information system, OneFile, Cognassist and any other internal systems.
  • Carry out eligibility checks on learners and ensure that learners meet the requirements of the funding rules.
  • To ensure compliance of all start, on programme and leaver paperwork meets the requirements of funding agencies, internal and external bodies.
  • Ensure compliance meets with audit requirements.
  • Timely collocation and validation of learner data in line with funding requirements and ensure all deadlines are met.
