The Functional Skills course is for learners of all ages who missed out on important English or Maths qualifications.

What will I learn?

Developing English and Maths skills is central to all learning at NA College and is incorporated into our strategic aim to ensure every individual can develop their skills and achieve recognised qualifications within their chosen area.

Within many job roles or future employment opportunities, English and maths qualifications are often a requirement along with the expectation that you can read, write and use numbers confidently. If you do not already hold a grade C (grade 4-9 or equivalent qualification) in GCSE English or Maths, then you must continue to study these subjects as part of your learning programme. This aim to hold Level 2 English or Maths qualifications is supported by government legislation and applies to all students, irrespective of where they study.

Achieving Level 2 in English will ensure that you have the necessary reading and writing skills and enable you to develop confidence and effective communication skills. Accompanied by the same qualification in maths confirm that you can analyse data, solve problems and interpret complex situations, all transferrable skills no matter your chosen career path today or in future years.

Our friendly teachers are experts at breaking these subjects down, making them relevant to everyday life to help develop your understanding and building confidence. They use games, quizzes and online apps to make learning fun, engaging and bespoke to your learning journey within NA College.

What are the entry requirements?

Learners must be 19 years old or over.
